Thank you

Not so much a story, but more a thank you. My time with Dean at Swiss Re changed my life. It was a wonderful time and a slightly crazy one looking back. But without Dean I would not be an underwriter. Without Dean I would not ski. Without Dean I would not have the same passion for insurance. And without Dean I would still smoke. We gave up together on 11th November 2002. Sadly Dean started again 12 hours later. But my last cigarette was with Dean outside Tower 42. And Dean has been a friend ever since. I don't think I ever lost an argument with Dean - solely because you knew if you wanted to win you had to be 100% sure you were right. Otherwise he would destroy you in a smoke screen of intellect. And even if you were right it would take at least 3 hours to get him to admit defeat (usually with a compromise). I have so many memories. Not all of them repeatable in polite company. But the best thing I can say is he was such a decent wonderful man who had such a positive influence on my life.

So thank you Dean. You will be missed by all.

And my heart goes out to Heather and family.
